How to Remove the Front Engine Bay Cover
2004-2009 Toyota Prius

Before doing anything read my disclaimer & safety info.

This is just a stepping stone to many other jobs, this is one of those things that will be linked to. This piece of plastic is officially called the "radiator support opening cover" and that makes absolutely no sense to me, it's a plastic cover in the front of the engine bay and offers no support to anything!

Tools Needed:

1) Pop the hood and then remove the 6 plastic clips highlighted in green. To do this...

Use a thin flat-headed screwdriver to get under here to pop up the plastic "screw." Now pull up on the piece or use the screwdriver to pry the piece up from under the base.

Here you can see the piece popped out so the barbs on the left (underneath) are not expanded. If the top piece was pushed in you would see 4 barbs expanded outwards and this is what holds that big plastic piece in place.

Here's what it looks like with the front engine cover off. It just gives you a bit more room to work and access other things.
